The Attachment Network of Manitoba prides itself in being self sufficient and our only revenue stream has been annual conferences we have held in the past. All that changed in 2020 as gathering was not safe. We have decided to get back into things and are hosting a full day on Friday, April 12 with Dr. Vanessa Lapointe, noted author and Vancouver psychologist. Entitled Educating & Parenting with HEART: A science-based, heart-centered approach to understanding and supporting children’s needs, Dr. Lapointe uses a mixture of neuroscience, attachment science and packages in plain language to remind us of the importance of being the one to provide a secure and safe relationship to a child, whether this is your own child or one you work with.
As parents and professionals, figuring out how to understand and support children to become all that nature intended for them can be downright overwhelming. In this age of information overwhelm, wading through advice can feel like a full-time job! To save you the frustration and free you up instead to be focused on coming alongside children in ways that make all the difference, Dr. Vanessa has done that work for you. She will cut through all of the noise in the child raising world to shine the spotlight squarely on how to make sense of behaviour, how to understand childhood anxiety, and how to STEP in as a child’s big person – whether as parent or professional. You will leave with tools and strategies that can be immediately implemented, and with a heart that is full of inspiration, hope, and compassion.
The event will run 9-4:30pm at the CCFM (Centre Culturel Franco-Manitoban) at 340 Provencher Blvd, with registration starting at 8:15am. Light refreshments will be served in the morning with a 1.5 hour lunch break to be used to perhaps investigate restaurants nearby. Early bird pricing of $125 runs until Feb 14, at which point, the price rises to $175. Groups of 5+ can enjoy pricing of $125 throughout.

Please check out Dr. Lapointe on Instagram and if you can read either of her 2 books (Parenting Right From the Start and Discipline Without Damage), you’ll enjoy them equally.
While anyone who works with children or lives with children will benefit from this presentation, we are hoping those of you who are secondary attachment figures to children in that you provide care through foster care; child care or schools, will find this most rewarding.
