Celebrating Family Literacy Day – The Importance of Storytelling

January 27, 2026 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for an evening of Storytelling.

Storytelling is a foundational practice in Indigenous cultures, deeply rooted in oral traditions that have been passed down through generations. In the Early Years sector, storytelling is not only a powerful educational tool – it is a sacred way of knowing, being, and connecting.

Stories carry teachings, values, and lessons that guide children in understanding the world around them. They are embedded with Indigenous knowledge systems, including seasonal cycles, language, kinship, and spirituality.

Educators working in on-reserve child care & child and family programs are invited to attend.

Date: Tuesday, January 27, 2026

Time: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm CDT or 6:30 – 7:30 pm EDT
