Upon seeing deep gullies that had been cut across a path in a ravine by recent heavy rainfalls, a 4-year-old child paused and said quietly, “How could something as soft as raindrops do this?”

As educators of young children, we have the privilege of accompanying them as they make meaning and develop understanding of the connections between all our relations. With that privilege comes the uplifting responsibility to nurture our own curiosity and sense of wonder, to question our own understandings and meanings, and to document the brilliant questions (verbal and non-verbal) and the strategies the children use to research the world. We will consider how we can truly walk with them, and research alongside them.
