Food Allergies in Canadian Child Care Programs—Free Webinar

Join the CCCF as we host Canadian allergy experts,  Dr. Elana Lavine, Dr. Jennifer Protudjer and Dr. Julia Upton as they discuss and inform on allergy issues and topics specific to Canada’s ELCC sector .

Dr. Elana Lavine is a community allergist practicing in the Toronto area, both at Humber River Hospital and the Vaughan Pediatric Clinic. She is an assistant professor in the Departments of Pediatrics at both the University of Toronto and Queen’s University. She is the current Pediatric section advisor for the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology

Dr. Jennifer Protudjer is the Endowed Research Chair in Allergy, Asthma and the Environment; and, an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, University of Manitoba; a research scientist at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba; and, an epidemiologist with the Clinical Trials Platform at the George and Fay Yee Centre for Healthcare Innovation. She also holds an adjunct professorship in the Department of Foods and Human Nutritional Sciences, University of Manitoba; and, and is an affiliated researcher at the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, where she completed her post-doctoral training. A mixed methodologist by training, her primary research interests include environmental risk factors for, and societal consequences of allergic disease, using both quantitative and qualitative methods. She is Section Head for Allied Health, Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology; sits on the steering committee for Canada’s National Food Allergy Action Plan; and, is the Manitoba lead on the Cross-Canada Anaphylaxis Registry. Dr Protudjer has a passion for patient engagement and knowledge translation of allergic disease research with families, schools and other stakeholders, and for academic teaching.

Dr. Julia Upton is a Clinical Immunologist and Allergist at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto (University of Toronto), and the Medical Director of the Clinical Research Centre.  She is the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Section Head of the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and on the medical advisory board of Food Allergy Canada.  She graduated from Western University’s Medical school, completed residency at McMaster University, Allergy/Immunology fellowship at University of Toronto, and a Master’s in Public Health at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health.
