Blue Sky Teaching – Exploring the Benefits of Taking Learning Outdoors
September 27th 2021, 5:00 – 6:30 pm PDT
What does it mean to embrace outdoor learning and how might an educator get started? This workshop explores the benefits of outdoor learning for elementary school children as well as the continuum of possibilities of outdoor pedagogies.
Dr. Debra Harwood is a professor in the Department of Educational Studies and is the Program Director, Bachelor of ECE at Brock University.
Skills and Dispositions for Intentional Outdoor Learning
September 29th 2021, 6:30 – 8:00 pm EDT & 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm PDT
Jessica Holder & Karen Eilersen from the Discovery Child Care Centre in Barrie ON, will guide educators through the development of the skills and dispositions necessary for intentional outdoor learning. Storytelling, small group conversations and hands-on experiential opportunities are just some of the activities to explore.

Jessica and Karen are both RECEs and Forest School Practitioners at the Discovery Child Care Centre, in Barrie, Ontario.
