The First Nation Early Years Mentors Gijiikendaamin network is open to 27 supervisors/managers of licensed child care programs in the Thunder Bay region.  Supervisors and/or managers attend meetings 5 to 6 times per year and are welcome to invite an educator. We encourage alternates if supervisors/managers are not available to attend. Virtual format is an option. The meetings provide an opportunity to keep updated on Ministry of Education’s guidelines, Child Care & Early Years Act 2014 rules, and participate in professional learning aligning with How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.

A monthly virtual Sharing & Caring Circle is an additional opportunity to support one another, share strategies and maintain relationships for continuous growth in strengthening the quality of services for children, families and communities.

Other networks include Child Care Resource Consultants, Nutrition, Policy Review and Educators.  The networks meet in-person twice per year with a virtual option.

The Thunder Bay Regional Child & Family Program Gatherings for Coordinators started meeting virtually in April of 2020 and continue to meet twice per year. The meetings provide an opportunity to keep updated on Ministry of Education’s guidelines, provides a platform for sharing cultural experiences and professional learning aligning with How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.
