Welcome to the July food guide newsletter!

This month we feature: cooking during the summer
Recipe of the month
This summer, add fish and herb vegetable packets to the menu. These can be prepared the night before or in the morning before work. All you need to do is place them on the grill when you come home and enjoy your evening outdoors!
No BBQ? No problem! These packets can be made just as easy in the oven. You can also swap out salmon for halibut, tilapia, trout or snapper.
Adding flavour to your water
Drinking water is important for your health! It’s a great way to quench your thirst and stay hydrated, including on hot summer days. Impress your friends and family by adding these delicious fruit and herb combos to your water: blackberries + mint raspberries + cucumber strawberries + fresh basil chopped apples + a cinnamon stick pear slices + a drop of vanilla extract  Learn more on how to make water your drink of choice.
Grill seasoning
Store-bought spice mixes can be costly and can contain a lot of salt. Why not make your own grill seasoning? It pairs perfectly with fish, tofu, meat or grilled vegetables. For the simple version, mix: 10 mL (2 tsp) onion powder 15 mL (1 tbsp) dried oregano 30 mL (2 tbsp) smoked paprika For the gourmet version, add: 15 mL (1 tbsp) dried rosemary 15 mL (1 tbsp) ground coriander 5 mL (1 tsp) ground black pepper Discover more recipe ideas with the Food guide kitchen
